I had a smaller shock mat years ago that I used to train a larger dog to stay out of the trash can. This one I bought to train chihuahuas. I don’t know why, but it did not work for them at all. The mat was functional, it would shock me if I touched it. But, it apparently did not shock them. In fact, the chihuahuas told me what they thought of the shock mat by peeing on it.

I originally bought two of these to cover both sides of my bed. Then after a day the second one would not stop beeping. It’s just hard to constantly beep and wouldn’t turn off and nothing would stop it. So I returned it and ordered a new one to replace it.Now the replacement will not stop beeping randomly. It just started beeping for absolutely no reason at 7:30 in the morning; Nothing was on it. I am not sure what sets it off randomly, but I know for a fact that neither of my cats were on it since they are in bed with me.Update: still randomly beeps and doesn’t work when you touch it.

We tried to stop rabbits from entering our yard through the gate bars by putting down a shock pad that beeps.Either they jumped over the pad or only spent a second or two on the pad itself. There is a long pause before the shock is triggered but a step on by the time the rabbits actually made contact was so short the shock never triggered. It did not work well for our needs.

I bought this product due to both of my cats scratching at the carpet by the door, in attempt to leave the bedroom at night. Since I have bought this 60 inch mat, they have avoided the door. Specifically, the tone startled them at first, but did not keep them solely off; but coupled with the shock, has them avoiding the door all together. In addition, my youngest (5-years-old cat), would wake me up meowing between 3am-4:30am trying to get out of the room and scratching at the door. Since the mat has been down in front of the door, he no longer engages in this behavior. Both of my cats now sleep during the night, and I am now getting a full nights sleep. =:- [) I definitely recommend this product. Money well spent!

This mat has a lot of pluses; however, ours basically started short circuiting after a couple uses. Occasionally we can turn it on and it works but 99% of the time it just continually beeps and shocks.Contacted manufacturer, no response.Better to spend a little bit more on a similar product that won’t crap out after the return period is over.

My only grumble is about how hard it is to open the battery compartment. I’ve had this item one day and it has stopped my large puppy from counter surfing. I had to keep moving it around because she decided that if she couldn’t surf from one side of the island the other might work. I tested the low buzz on myself….gets one’s attention, but not painful. The puppy just jumped back as though startled. I’m going to try it on the couch tonight, although I almost have her broken from that anyway.

When I first set it up and went to work I could tell when I got home that my dog still got on the couch, so I made sure all the hair was trimmed off the pads of his pals and it works!!! No more animals on my furniture. I can put it away, but every now and then I get it back out as a reminder.

Waste of money. I ordered two and the first time I ordered one worked at first and one never worked at all. I returned them and waited for another set. Received the second set and they works a few times and then just quit working. Not as described, I would not recommend spending the money on these.

I bought two of the 60×12 to cover my dining table. They have now both stopped working less than a year after I bought them. I’ve used multiple batteries to see if it’s a power issue- both completely dead, no lights. I have only used the mats intermittently during vacations or day trips, not every day. I do not recommend, especially at the price.

I have to say after more than 2 months it works great! One of our cats was urinating on our futon. I had to replace the mattress with a new one and then put the pad on the mattress. I turned on the sound and charge, and as of yet have not seen the cats use it at all. I Have not caught them trying to get up on it, so it must be working:) They now look at the futon and turn away. I did not see them getting zapped or hear them . But it must of happened at some point. I would buy again:)

I got this to keep my lab off my couch when we are not home due to not wanting her all over my new pillows and she always would get my couch dirty from her paws so my couch would have dirt and dirty paw prints. Worked asap! Also effective on humans lol

I was having a hard time keeping my dog off the back of the couch and not jump on the window sill. It’s summer time so we close the curtains more now that the sun is brighter. This scat mat does the job, my dog has jumped on the back of the couch once since installing this and hasn’t tried again.

I sat and watched as my curious cat cautiously walked on it. She walked 75% it’s length (several feet) before it finally shocked her.When I tested it myself (placing my hand up and down several places to mimic a walking cat), I was shocked only ~10-15% of the time.That’s not going to keep a determined cat off of anything.

Works well so far! I only had it for 4 hours and already my cats are avoiding it. Yes they can jump over but we are using it for when the door is closed. My cat tries to claw out the door to get into the room. Will update once we’ve had it for a month.

Worked initially the first couple hours of receiving it and then just stopped producing a charge and once cat figured out it wasn’t a danger to her, because it doesn’t work, she went back to her evil ways of pooping outside of the litter box.

When I first got it, I loved it! It worked great! However, since purchasing, it stopped working. I changed the battery and it just keeps beeping and I have switched to different modes. It does not shock anymore and just an annoyance. I bought a different brand around the same time and it still does the job and working.

I bought this to keep my young cat from jumping on the counter. It didn’t work as she is too determined. How ever the dog got a little shock one time when I placed it on the floor and he won’t go near it now. I think if it is for the couch as advertised, it would work very well and for that I would recommend it. Also, would be good to keep cats off counters, if you didn’t have a real determined cat.

It would seem right that if there is a chair or part of the sofa on which you don’t want the animal to lay, then it could work…but my cat had this one figured out by the next day. “Oh you don’t want me to run through the door… no problem, I’ll leap over it”. It’s a nice product but I as quickly disillusioned- Aly was just too sharp for it.
