This produces outstanding bright light. There are flashlights rated with higher Lumens but for any use I can imagine myself needing, I can’t see ever needing a brighter light than this. The reason I chose this particular flashlight is because it uses AA batteries (4) instead of AAA batteries. The flashlight itself has a nice strap which is useful when going out for an evening walk. It also feels like it is large enough to be used in self defense, while not being too large to comfortably carry. The zooming head creates an distinct square shaped beam when zoomed out to its most distant setting while it creates a more traditional round pattern when un-zoomed for a closer area, such as when illuminating a sidewalk. This is sort of the Goldilocks flashlight – the right balance between size, shape and brightness for indoor and outdoor uses.

I found nothing to dislike about this flashlight. It throws an adjustable light beam of bright, white, high-visibility light. The flashlight is made of high-quality machined aluminum and looks nearly indestructible. I’m very happy with my purchase of this flashlight. I’ve seen flashlights that cost twice as much as this one that are not nearly as good as this one.Edit: I just received my 3rd GearLight flashlight from Amazon. The first one is an S2000 I bought over a year ago, the second was an S1200 that I bought for my son, and the third is an S2000 I bought to keep in my vehicle. I cannot say enough good things about this family of flashlights and the company that makes them, GearLight. These lights have super-bright, excellent-quality light output and the flashlight is made from machined aluminum with a black nitride-looking coating. They’re built like a tank. The one that’s over a year old still looks and operates just like the new one. Neither the appearance of the flashlight nor the appearance of it has degraded over time. It still works and looks the way it did when I first removed it from the box.I couldn’t ask for a better flashlight at any price. If I ever need another flashlight, it will be a GearLight product.

There is a S3000 for sale and it isn’t even close to as bright as this S2000 is. The light focuser is so easy to use, it is telescoping you can quickly go from flood to focused light stream. It works really well at night when you are trying find an animal, you can use the flood, then instantly focus the light on what you’re looking at. I can’t say enough good things about it, I haven’t used it enough to so how long the battery lasts. I had been getting rechargeable flash lights and it always seems like they are dead or the battery doesn’t last long until the next charge, I think this flash light is great because you can plop new batteries in and you are good to go. If you like the rechargeability, I would just get rechargeable AA batteries. Love it!

Was good while it lasted. The flashlight is now dead after prolong use. Found out that the thin metal that connects the batteries together starts to get brittle, erodes and breaks after using it for long periods of time. I tried soldering but that still did not get it working. I have to assume that the parts inside the LED housing or the LED itself might also gone bad. Since I cant seem to get the LED housing out so far i can’t confirm that. But im not very happy with the fact that this flashlight died. I have alot of other flashlights that are smaller and cheaper and used just as much without issues. I could understand if it stopped working from damages caused by trauma…but not from excessive use.Update: So i just received a brand new flashlight from seller MIDirect. Funny thing is i didn’t ask for a replacement. The flashlight works great, just like the previous. Im hoping that the one i got before was just a flike. If anything the seller gets a 5 just for excellent customer service. It seems they really care about their customers and stand by their products.

I thought my other led flashlight was going to be hard to equal till I received this one and added the batteries and turned it on. WOW!!! This flashlight drowns out the other with light that is truthfully at least 20 times brighter. I love the size, the all metal construction, the watertight construction, the zoom focus and variable intensity. I do prefer a side mounted on/off switch, as to this tactical position, but that’s trivial. This is the brightest light I have ever had, bar none. I believe it will last for years. The sale price for the quality is unbeatable. I may get another 1 or 2 for family. I highly recommend this product.

This thing is awesome. It’s a little bigger than I was expecting. I bought a holster for it and it surprisingly fits. It’s super bright and it’s a great tool to have. It’s just a little too big for I bought it for. I’m a rental agent and occasionally I have to return a customers rental car on the night shift and we do a post inspection. It’s too big to have on my belt. I’m gonna keep this one at home but I ordered the smaller one to this hopefully it’ll be more towards what I’m looking for.

I really like and have many Anker products, but Gearlight s2000 is at least twice brighter than Anker 1300 lumen flashlight although Anker has better case. I think the brightness is more important than case on a flashlight.

This flashlight is extremely bright and I cannot imagine a better brightness to cost ratio. Perhaps surprisingly to some, there are large price differences between flashlight types. One could pay well over $70 for a hi-tech flashlight, and even into hundreds of dollars for those that can illuminate an entire canyon or even set paper on fire, and then I would arbitrarily divide the moderately priced flashlights into those $30-70, and the relatively inexpensive, and yet not cheapo, ones $15-$30.This flashlight is the best of the latter category (and is likely equal/superior to many in the moderately priced category), having significantly brighter illumination than one will likely be used to compared to the old-school types, is built sturdy, and is sold through a US company (i.e. altogether it doesn’t feel like A typical Chinese knock-off meant to last just past the return window followed by the closure of their online presence).I bought 3 of these for the same price as one of another highly rated similar lumen flashlight I was considering, and it lives up to all of my expectations.

Drains fresh batteries in less than half an hour. It starts out bright but starts to noticeably dim very quickly.

Was literally a click away from purchasing a very expensive flashlight ($300) that had a very strong light output and far beam that met my needs. Sometimes I’m out at night delivering packages and need to see house numbers. I decided to look on Amazon for potential products and I decided to give this flashlight a try before making that purchase. My expectations were met for 1/15th of the price I was going to pay! The beam is strong and the light output went signicantly farther than I expected it to. This won’t be a problem when I need to flash house numbers. Wow!It does get a little hot after a few minutes of usage, but in the owners manual it states “this is normal and does damage the flashlight”, so I’m not concerned.

These flashlights are great for spotting deer across fields at night. Beam carries surprisingly well. That it uses AA batteries to produce this beam is just amazing. My research suggests that the XM-L2 LEDs used in these flashlights are (or were) the brightest single-diode LEDs on the market. This thing hangs with my XHP70.2 (four-diodes) lamp. Granted, it isn’t quite as bright, but is definitely in the same tier. Also, a GearLight rep reached out to make sure the light is as expected and reiterated the factory warranty, making himself reachable in the event of an issue (and he did this with no request for a positive review like others have done). There was also a warranty card inside each box of the two S2000 lights I’ve purchased so far. I am impressed, and I do recommend this flashlight for the above reasons. I will update review if I have issues and/ or have to test out the warranty process.*UPDATE:I am lowering my review to 4 stars (although it’s still closer to 4.3) due to the lamp losing a bit of its initial intensity over time. The flashlight still works well, and I still recommend it well before ANY of the comparable lights I have purchased within the “under $70” price range. The light still does a good job of illuminating deer eyes at the far end of the ‘back 40’ and has held up to my abusive nature (e.g dropped in mud, used in rain, bounced off driveway, etc.) over time, but the noticeable decline in bulb intensity over time brings it back to the reality that it isn’t perfect. Within the “under $50” price range, there is not one I recommend higher than this one though. My experience with the light is five star in the value category, for sure.

The brightness on this is exactly what I was looking for. It’s even brighter than the ambient summer afternoon daylight in my living room, as you can see in the video. I appreciate the ability to quickly change the focus if a spotlight is needed. I can’t speak to the build quality or durability, but since this will only be used around the house, that’s the bottom of my priority list anyway. I wanted affordable, versatile brightness, and that’s what I got.

The flashlight seems to be well made. The light is very bright and strong.I gave it one star because of the razor sharp piece of metal that was left on it that sliced 2 of my fingers. I took the pictures after I controlled the bleeding.

This flashlight is amazingly bright. Great selection of modes. My only con for this light is that it does not seem to remember the last setting. If I turn it off on a solid beam, wait 30 secs, turn it on, it will go to the next mode of flashing. If I’m trying to search an area, and need to only use light to spot check something, I cannot cycle through each time.I am guessing I need to return and find a different brand.

I ordered this flashlight and when I got it, put batteries in it, and turned it on, I was VERY happy with it. I was actually delighted to finally have a great flashlight since I’ve been using an old Eveready flashlight I’ve had for 25 years that you have to bang on in order for it to work. So, I ordered two other for my husband and my son. They arrived today. One worked, the other didn’t. I’m so bummed now because instead of just getting a label and sending it back like I’ve done in the past, I have to take it all the way into town to drop it at the UPS store. I’m very upset with the return BS now. So, Flashlights…when they actually work, work GREAT. But when it doesn’t work, the return to Amazon SUCKS.

Ultra Bright and uses AA batteries, not the expensive ones. The various functions (light settings) are difficult to manage, as the number of clicks on the button are very challenging to get just right. But it is very bright. The zoom function just blocks the outer portion of the beam and it does not appear that the light gets noticeably brighter when focused down. Either way; the dimmer settings or the narrowed beam functions are minor compared to how bright the light is and the fact that it uses inexpensive batteries. FAST shipping and delivery! I am happy!

AWESOME PRODUCT, AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!! Thank you !!!!So bummed. I have owed this flashlight for over a month. It is super bright. I changed the batteries and now it won’t work. I’ve tried three sets of batteries. I’ve double checked the polarity…. can’t figure out why it would just not work. Great flash light, maybe I just got a bad one …..****WOW, within a week of my review I received a brand new flashlight with batteries included !!! I originally only gave 3 stars, but have upgraded to a five star review…. it’s a great flashlight, and I love the sliding adjustable brightness…. I use it to take my dog out at night…. so, it gets regular use…. u just can not get customer service like GEARLIGHT. I didn’t even request a replacement. I’m sure others who had a negative experience received the same A+ customer service, but probably didn’t bother to update their review…. I get it, we are all busy and it’s not a huge deal…. but I’m super impressed with my customer service experience and I do honestly love the flash light !!!! THANK YOU GEARLIGHT !!!!

The Good: I loved the Gearlight High Powered LED flashlight S2000. It is extremely bright, and finally found a 4 “AA” battery flashlight that worked good. Built very well aluminum body. Very good weight and light spread. I liked it so much, i bought 3 of them to give to my parents and kids. The Bad: Purchased about 5 months, it quit working. I swapped batteries, hit the ends, nothing worked. I began investigating the cause. And found i can take the battery holder apart with a small phillips screwdriver. I found the contact fell off from corrosion. The contact is no longer attached to the long strip that goes to the top. The entire brass strip is also corroded and almost entirely black. So the entire strip was about to fall off also. I also found the anodization of the internal is not very well done. There were bare spots inside and already corrosion happening there. The flashlight is sealed well with orings, so no water was entering in.I really liked the flashlight. Just wish they spend more money on the corrosion protection on the contact points. Now i will have to find a small wire and solder from one end to the other end to complete the circuit. It is past my warranty so i’ll just have to live with it.

I have to go outside at night next to a densely wooded area. There are interesting people and bears to be aware of. One man came upon me and I hadn’t seen him until he was less than ten feet away. This flashlight is amazing. Put on the most focused setting it illuminates at such a distance that I can be alerted to someone’s presence more than half a block away. It is heavy-duty and easy to operate but I do miss the old slid switch on the side of the flashlight. If you have a leash in one hand, or any other object, you need two hands to turn it on. I suppose I could hold it like the police do but I prefer holding it in a fashion more conducive to braining someone, if necessary. I hope to never use it in this way, but it’s nice knowing it would pack a punch. The real comfort comes from knowing I can see so far, I’d have plenty of time to remove myself from the vicinity.

This flashlight was great – the first two times I used it. Very bright, long range beam, solid feel. Third time I tried to use it it was completely dead. I tried new batteries. Still dead. Tried and checked everything the owners manual suggested. Nothing. I reached out to their customer service email through the company website, which promises a response within a few hours. That was five days ago. So it would appear that I was one of those unlucky ones who was duped out of my $18. If you’re fortunate enough to get a working flashlight from this company that lasts, this should be a great light for you. However, do not buy if you want to trust that the company’s warranty policy will be honored or fulfilled.

Overall, this is a good flashlight especially considering the reasonable price compared to other flashlights. It would be good for in a house when the lights go out or in a car for emergencies. I would not use it in any tactical situation due to one major flaw. The flashlight has five settings (hi, med., lo, strobe and SOS). The problem is it automatically cycles to the next setting every time you turn it off. For example, if you are using the low setting, the next time you turn it on it will be in the strobe setting. You really don’t want to pull out a flashlight in a tactical situation needing to light up something and have it start flashing SOS. It really should either come on in the high setting or the last used. As long as it is not used tactically, I would recommend this flashlight.

Took possession of this August 10, 2020. Threw it on top of my kitchen cabinet and skipped off to Harbor Freight for their $14.99 “tactical” light as this Gear Light was needed for work the next day. I quickly compared brightness when I got back, Harbor Freight won. I then put the Gear Light back on top of the cabinet until now. I work in machine repair so I am rough on flashlight, sadly I never got the chance to really put the Gear Light to the test. Harbor Freight is still going with NO ISSUES, especially BRIGHTNESS.Update. After the original review I received a package via USPS. Upon opening said package I was GREATLY surprised to find a new flashlight -the S2500. THIS light IS EXACTLY what they claim. I have not put it to the test at work (machine repair) so the durability has yet to bee seen but I am guessing it too will be as described.I am very thankful to Chuck Hatch at GEARLIGHT for their service and the new light I received.Again, GEARLIGHT, Thank-you.

This is the best Flashlight I have ever had. Not cheap plastic, made from metal which is a plus for durability. This flashlight is so bright. It has 3 different brightness levels, plus you can pull out on the handle and it make the light more narrow so you can focus it on small things far away. It will blink on one of the settings. If you are debating between this and another get this one you won’t be disappointed. Plus in the box at the time I bought mine I got a coupon for a percentage off my next one. I have bought 8 of these for gifts and also have about 6 placed all over my house.

I only had this flashlight approximately 2 weeks and used maybe 8 times before I noticed that the light dimmer than my mini mag light. Most times I use my flashlights 5-10 minutes per day with 30 minutes on the weekend mornings.Saturday night I went out to get my mail and took the GearLight flashlight. Once back inside my darkened hallway saw the flashlight appeared to be glowing. Looking at the bulb I could see that while the bulb was not lit, the metal square behind the bulb was glowing. Then, it began strobing, and then pulsing, and then back to solid. The flashlight appeared to be running through the flashlight’s options and it kept repeating.Taking the batteries out and putting them back in did not stop the square from repeatedly going through the light patterns. My only option was to remove the batteries so that it would not continue to eat the batteries.I have returned the product and will be looking for something more reliable.

I got this flashlight to use at work as a security guard, and I am using brand new Panasonic Eneloop Pro rechargeable batteries in it that are designed for high drain devices. I get about an hour of full brightness and maybe another hour of usable brightness. If I use the dimmer modes to ration the battery charge I can just barely get through an 8 hour shift. I was hoping for more battery life, but I suppose that is the trade off for having a bright LED and using rechargeable batteries. The product could be improved if it offered the option of using higher capacity batteries than AA’s, especially if there was a way to charge the batteries in the flashlight without having to take them out. Overall the flashlight works well and seems well built so I would recommend it over any other flashlight I’ve used for work except the much more expensive Surefires which are awesome.

I was a delivery driver for Dominos, and my shift was ALWAYS 4 or 5 pm to close. There’s nothing difficult about delivering pizza, EXCEPT…!!! When people do not have clearly lit numbers on their homes that tell us (delivery, mail) employees that we (100% ABSOLUTELY DO) have the correct house, it really, REALLY makes our jobs a little bit harder. Anyway, (rant over) I’d be driving down residential streets, half hanging out of my window, eyes squinted as squinty as I could get them, trying to see the number of the houses. It was so much more difficult at night. Finally, after I had had enough of spending an extra 5 minutes looking for addresses, I decided to buy a flashlight. I almost felt silly buying one. Was I really going to purchase an entire flashlight to deliver pizza with? And actually shine it at people’s homes? I felt silly about it, but once I received the flashlight, I was happy I did it. Flashlights already have a good amount of weight to them, but I was surprised by this one. It feels VERY sturdy! It has a good weight to it. The beam can be narrowed or spread out. And to me, I didn’t expect this good of quality for the amount I paid! Get this flashlight! It really is worth it!!

This thing is incredible! By far the brightest flashlight in this price point, I would go as far to say the brightest under $50. The pictures don’t do this thing justice. When zoomed all the way in, it looks like a searchlight in the sky, visible beam for at least 1000 feet in the sky. Unless you receive a defective flashlight, there would be no reason to not be completely satisfied with this flashlight. So good, I bought a 2nd one.

I bought this flashlight to keep in the kitchen junk drawer or toss in a toolbox or hiking backpack in case I need something reasonably portable, but still powerful to use occasionally or during a power outage or if I find myself out in the woods after dark. I think I hit the mark with this flashlight, which is impressively bright for the price and has a neat/simple “zoom” function to adjust the beam from a wide, circular flood light to a narrow, square spotlight and everything in between. It also comes with some pre-programmed light modes, which allow you to select how strong the beam is (the dimmer the beam, the longer you can make the batteries last) and an S-O-S and strobe function. This requires four AA batteries, not included. I haven’t seen any issues with build quality like some other reviews have pointed out. If you want to spend more, you obviously can, but for under $20 this is a great buy.

Based on the high reviews, I was fairly disappointed on the outcome. Definitely a shitty flashlight, overpriced and needs too much batteries. Sure there’s 1200 lumens but I forsee this thing burning thru batteries like crazy.

The S2000 is quite bright for a home flashlight. I actually use it on the dimmest setting quite a bit when I’m working on a household project. I don’t need the SOS and emergency flasher modes, so I would be fine if they were left off. I like the feature where the flashlight returns to the brightest setting after being off for a couple of minutes. The body is heavy aluminum and feels good. The light pattern is nice and smooth with no dark spots. The wide to narrow control works well on my examples. (Just slide the head in or out.) I used 4 rechargeable hybrid-NiMH batteries (in other words, the precharged kind) and got what felt like a couple of hours of mixed brightness use before the batteries ran down. The head gets noticeably warm on the brightest setting, but not enough to seem dangerous. The battery holder seems to work well and was reasonably marked. It wasn’t clear to me initially how to remove the batteries, but a moment’s experimentation revealed that, like most battery holders, popping the end farthest away from the spring with a fingernail works nicely.Short summary: I liked the first one well enough to buy 2 more.

If you are not trying to light up a sports stadium, this is a great light for walking the dog at night, seeing if anyone is in your backyard, that type of thing. Very solid feel in the hand, seems well built, and throws a great strong light. Uses regular batteries which for me is a plus. Overall I’m very happy with this purchase. For only $15, I doubt you can find a better light and why pay more when you don’t have to? I can’t think of a time that anyone would need a stronger (more expensive) light in the course of a normal life. A+++ to GearLight!

I wanted a single flashlight that could meet all my needs whether a power outage, looking for something in a dark place or while out on a night walk. This flashlight appears to be made very well. It is very solid and while heavier than other flashlights, it balances well in the hands and has great feature. There are multiple light settings including flashing options. BUT….a solid flashlight does you NO GOOD if you cannot turn the thing off. The button on the flashlight does not work. We tried adjusting the head, the telescope feature and every possible combination in between and IT JUST WILL NOT SHUT OFF. I finally had to open it up and pull the battery pack that holds the batteries so we would not exhaust the charge overnight. What good is a flashlight if you cannot turn it on and off when needed. My husband told me not to buy it as we had others in the house but I wanted my own. Now, all I hear is, “I told you so.” If I want to use the light, I put the battery pack in, use it and pull it out …every time. What a pain. How dumb is that?Keep looking and keep the lights on.

Flashlights always get cheaper and brighter as LED technology advances, but there comes a point where waiting longer gives only marginal benefit.Gearlight S2000 surpasses that point. It is the brightest flashlight I have ever owned and shines with very even illumination. Its beam width is smoothly adjustable and gives off an amount of light that has to be seen to be believed from such a modest size. There are more subtle elements as well. Made of aluminum coated with a durable black finish it is a pleasure to handle and gives off that feel of a precision instrument. The same goes for the internals. All contacts have strong spring loading and their yellow sheen suggests gold plating to prevent corrosion.Powering it with 4x AA batteries is a sensible choice given the universal nature of this size. You can buy AA batteries everywhere from bodegas and gas stations to department stores. And if you go the rechargeable route then AA battery chargers are widely available as well, unlike those for more exotic sizes. I’m doing this myself.Last but not least, this manufacturer puts its customers first. I had technical after-sale questions about power use and optimization. They answered promptly with detail and enthusiasm, and even made the effort to check with their engineering department. Rare!If you want a compact, well made flashlight that lights up the night and weighs little, then this is a great choice.

DO NOT BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT! I want to say the light itself is extremely bright ( so that’s a good thing ) HOWEVER that’s where the good ends. I purchased our first light and within a few months went to change batteries and absolute BATTERY ACID/CORROSION was everywhere. So much so I decided, I can’t do anything with this so let me try and order another light. I did so, the light came and again was extremely bright. It feels heavy duty, and like it would last. Again I use Energizer / Duracel batteries. Well again after another 6 months, I go to change batteries and once again BATTERY ACID/CORROSION everywhere. I would never suggest anyone buy this particular flashlight EVER! Lesson learned! I’ve wasted over $40 buying these lights and I will never purchase another one. Fool me once – ok – twice – never again!

I received my flashlight today and put 4 brand new Duracell batteries in it and am so disappointed by the quality of light or brightness of light that comes out of it! I have other flashlights that I paid less for that are brighter than this one! So if I were reading this and debating on buying this flashlight I would save my money and buy a different one! Good luck everyone.

Got this in July, perfect for taking dogs outside at night, to make sure no predators near, very bright, batteries lasted till about a wk ago, after replacing batteries, noticed when I turned flashlight off, it still had a dim glow on, in the shape of the square, had to remove batteries to turn off…tried it again and noticed a burning smell, took batteries out again and saw that there is a burn spot inside flashlight, flashlight is no good, I don’t want to think about what could have happened if we didn’t notice the flashlight wasn’t turning off and left it burning inside the flashlight while we slept…contacted tech support for the company 3 days ago and still no reply..After looking at reviews and pics on here, it looks like this is a common problem with this flashlight and no replacement offered from this company…

I have had two of the S1200 models from Gearlight and loved them. I had lost them both over the course of 3 years and didn’t want to get another of the same model in case I found one again. The day after ordering the S2000 I, of course, found my other light but decided to compare them. While the 1200 was my go-to light for everything and I thought it was really bright, the 2000 blows it out of the water for brightness. Seems to me to be twice as bright. Yes it is a little longer and seems a little less threatening with the smooth bezel, but when a bright light is required, this is the bomb! I cannot speak to the water-resistance since I haven’t gotten it wet yet. The 1200 was water-resistant and this seems to be made the same way. Battery life? I’m still on my first set of batteries and they are still going strong. Both these lights are very well made and reliable if you don’t lose them.

This flashlight seems to be a good value. It is very bright and has 3 brightness levels. Changing the brightness levels or strobe or SOS is performed with the rear button which is a little tricky and annoying to toggle through each time. For the price though this seems like a great flashlight. Walking at night on trails is easy because the focus is easily adjusted on the fly to optimally illuminate changing conditions. The unit is a bit smaller than the old standard flashlights that carried 2 D cells. Its has some weight to it and a solid feel. Only weakness I see would be the rear setting control button, takes some getting used to and if your on a lighter setting, going quickly to full strength brightness would be difficult to do in a hurry or emergency.

I’m impressed with this item so far. Bright and the fact that it actually uses regular batteries are big pluses in my book. I’ve noticed a propensity towards rechargeables in a LOT of emergency items like flashlights. For me, I think that’s not such a good way to go with gear that’s meant for emergencies. Most folks, on average, would tend to forget to charge their items regularly and when they needed it the most, it’d be either dead on charge or nearly dead on charge. I keep my flashlights/lanterns next to my battery supply box in case of power outage. Most average folks tend to keep their phones nearby for easy access like I do. They provide enough light to find and load up the flashlights/lanterns during power outages.

Can’t beat it for the $20 price. I live out in the country on a small farm & it is like a spot light. I can easily see all the way back to the wood line, which is pretty far from our house. You can focus the light to see long distance, or cone it out to light up an area around you. We use it at night to feed the livestock & check on them. I purchased a second one as a gift. I paired it with some Amazon rechargeable batteries. Flashlights like this burn through batteries fast.

Pros:-Solid metal construction. It’s big. I’ve added a photo of it next to a standard water bottle and a Maglite Mini LED. I didn’t know that simply holding a flashlight could make someone feel so powerful. This one does it!-The weight is perfect. Just heavy enough to feel high-quality but not too heavy to carry for a long time.-The body texture feels very nice to hold.-Moving parts are super smooth.-Beam can be super wide or super narrow depending on zoom level.-Easy to switch between modes.-Takes conventional/rechargeable AA batteries.Cons:-Batteries are difficult to remove from the internal holder/tray.-Small annoyance but you have to wait about 5-10 seconds after turning off the light before the mode resets to the default brightest setting. Otherwise, it will switch to the mode after the one you were just on (for example, the order of modes is High, Medium, Low, Strobe, SOS. So turning it off while in Low and back on again within 5-10 seconds will make the light go into Strobe mode). Maybe a shorter reset time would be nice.I’ve collected around 20 new flashlights in the past 3 years ranging from cheap entry level lamps to expensive hobby-grade machines. The GearLight S2000 is in my top 3 due to its excellent value and high practicality.Highly recommended!

If you want a small light that is very bright, not like the little ones that you may already have… This is an Excellent combination of technology! And that’s because you get a total of 6 lithium ( 4X1.5 lithium batteries)! That’s about 25% more powerful than all others this size! But, it also bigger and heavier has a really nice HUGE glass lens on the front that makes it another 15 to 20% brighter than the others. ThIs light also can work >4X longer than any rechargeable!Uniquely bright and certainly worth the $ if lithium batteries are used!

THIS IS MY 2ND S2000. REASON FOR PURCHASING AGAIN….I MISPLACED OR LOST MY 1ST ONE! I CAN’T STAND TO BE WITHOUT AN EXTREMELY BRIGHT AND RELIABLE FLASH LIGHT. I HOPE I FIND THE OTHER ONE, I REALLY LIKE TO HAVE A BACK UP FOR SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT. I DROPPED MY 1ST ONE SEVERAL TIMES ON TILE FLOORS AND IT KEPT ON WORKING FINE. IF I LOSE THIS ONE….I WILL BUY 2 NEXT TIME FOR BACK UPS. IMO….IF U ARE SERIOUS ABOUT EXTREMELY BRIGHT LIGHT AND 1 WELL BUILT AND ABLE TO WITHSTAND DROPS AND OTHER DAMAGE, BUY THIS ONE, BUT BUY 2 IN THE FIRST PLACE. IF U ARE LIKE ME….YOU WILL LOSE IT, BRAKE IT OR GIVE IT TO A FRIEND! HA! RMURPHY

I’m not sure what exactly you’d be getting if you paid 4x the cost, but if you’re just looking for a very bright and capable flashlight, this will most certainly do. Literally at night using the zoom feature I would be able to spot a bird in a tree 5 houses away. I was using it outside like that but got nervous thinking the neighbors would wonder if there was some kind of police chase. If you have specific tactical needs I can’t say but if you’ve never had a flashlight like this it’ll be significantly brighter than anything you’d ever had without question.

I have one of the smaller Gear Lights which has been the best flashlight I’ve owned. I wanted something a little more powerful when going out hunting and tracking deer in the dark. This light is incredible and will light up an entire area. But that comes at a cost of battery life. I really wish there was some other option for batteries like other light I have because I can get maybe an hour or two out of a set of batteries, especially in the cold. I always end up resorting back to my old Gear Light because the batteries will last me hours and hours at the cost of less light. I will most likely be looking at other flashlights by Gear Light for next season because you really cannot beat the value!I have 2 Gear Lights now and both are heavy duty and waterproof. They have been dropped countless numbers of times on hard surfaces, thrown around in a hunting bag and spent time out in the rain. They are a little beat up on the outside, but they both still work perfectly. This is the best light you can buy for the money. My hunting buddy has a rechargeable MagLight with the LED conversion and both my lights are so much better than his. Highly recommend!

Full disclosure, I love flashlights and I think that all vehicles and homes should have them….possibly a dozen or so is about right. But…if you had to have just one..this would be it.Fit, finish and performance is amazing. The entire unit is aircraft aluminum and built to last. Drop testing compliments of my two dogs…passed with flying colors. The brightness is absolutely impressive. As you can see by my dog pics, it literally turns all into daylight. This brightness and high performance however, comes at a cost. Although the battery life is not horrible, the output is so intense, that something has to give….and its usually the battery. So yes, I would buy this over and over ….and over again, unfortunately, they are made to last a lifetime, so theirs that.Cuervo.

Bought this product for basic and emergency home use. Certainly plenty bright enough for any outdoor use. Have used it for a month. Very pleased so far. Very well constructed. Heavy duty. Its functions operate very smoothly. Zoom feature operates very nicely.. I use it with Amazon Basic 2400 mAh high capacity rechargeable batteries and very happy with the bright performance.. Has a very strong led light. Brightest i’ve found. Easy to change out the batteries. Battery holder fits very nicely in the body. No looseness. If your looking for an inexpensive but very well built bright led flashlight you need to try this one. Would certainly buy again.

This Light is real bright, just what I wanted. Where I live the street lights are not the bright, and they are not on every pole. When I turn on this light for the first time, it made up for the lost of light, from the pole lighting. (Pow) it was on.I am glad to have this light, but I almost sent it back. I removed the battery case, inserted battery, and reattached, the battery compartment cap. The Lights did not work. To my surprise, the shaving from the where the battery compartment, was left in the flash light. I removed the shaving, reinstalled the batteries insert, I screwed the battery cap on. Then I pushed the button, and I was looking right into the leans. Well that was not a good idea. (Super Bright).I am well pleased. I do believe, what I experience was a factory oversight. This is a very bright light, and I highly recommend this light.

I now have 9 other Gearliht Flashlights. I recommed the S2500, over the S2000.The S200o is about 1/2 inch longer and as thick as the S2500 . The s2500 is brighter, however the S2000 is brighter at Full Zoom but lights a much smaller area . I purchased the S2000 for my truck. The smaller S2500 fits the F250 door pocket better.I use the Gearlights for my Car, Truck, RV and home bed side tables, tool box and the S2000 for Dog Walking.Gearlight’s are VERY GOOD QUAlITY and Excelent VALUE. After a month of nightly Dog Walking batteries last about two weeks ( about 10 hours ) the brightness level becomes noticeably lower as they become Low when checked with a battery meter..I have two Everyday Carry Nitecote flashlights I use for Camping. They are smaller but 4 to 5 times the cost and work best with expensive 18650 rechargable Lithium Ion Batteries

Is a bit of a pain. But that is off-set by the INCREDIBLY bright beams of light this flashlight provides. Therefore, I give this flashlight 2 thumbs up! VERY bright on the highest setting. Possibly the brightest flashlight I’ve ever used. Five different beams of light require cycling through, via the red Power button, on the tail end of the light. Kind of a pain but, this light is BRIGHT! It’s a keeper!

OK, I’m kidding. Sort of. This flashlight is outrageously bright! I bought three and they all work amazingly well. It’s hard to believe what can be done with LEDs these days.I’ve read some of the negative reviews and I think that the power consumption MIGHT be an issue. I haven’t used any of the flashlights for more than a few minutes except in one case where it was on for about 10 minutes and the unit became noticeably warm. I took out the batteries to make sure it wasn’t just my hot hands and I confirmed that the batteries were discharging at a rate high enough to generate the heat. Without further testing I can only conclude that, to generate such bright light, the batteries will drain quickly as some reviewers have stated. That said, I am still giving this a five star rating because I don’t plan on using them to do any extended nighttime adventures. I’ll resort to my lower power consumption lanterns and headlamps which are designed for that. These flashlights are more of an emergency and quick inspection device. I also got a couple of GearLight LED Lanterns which seem more appropriate for battery powered light for longer periods of time.

I purchased this flashlight to keep by my back door specifically for use as a skunk spotter. We live in an area that is absolutely filled with smelly skunks. We have an 8 moth old puppy, and I very much want to avoid having to bathe my very energetic young pup and myself with the backyard hose at 11 o’clock at night. I grab this light and scan the yard for the smelly invaders every time I let the dog out (on a leash…. yes, there are that many skunks to worry about). Twice since I purchased this flashlight, I have prevented the dreaded skunk v. puppy encounter. The light is so bright, it even sent the skunks running. The light beam is highly adjustable, so I can scan the entire yard, or focus on one particular area, and I can easily avoid accidently shining the light into my neighbors’ windows. I cannot recommend this wonderful flashlight highly enough.

This is a decent light. It’s not exactly lightweight, but the downfall is the fact it uses up 4 AA batteries. I’ll have to invest into rechargeable AA batteries to make sure that I’ve got power for this light. The beam is powerful and the zoom feature works awesome.

Purchased the flashlight in Jan of this year for general home security reasons. Although that seems like a while ago it has sat safe and dry in a kitchen cabinet. I Have only used probably 4 times to look in the garden at night, with probably a handful of on off cycles on the button. Used tonight and now flashlight is stuck in a constant barely on mode, and the button has no impact, which I’m assuming will result in dead batteries pretty quickly. Now I have zero confidence it will it will be operable for me when I actually need it for the intended purpose which is a bummer since I had really loved this flash light and how bright and easy to use it was…

This is a very well made, heavy duty flashlight that produces phenomenal light in both beam settings, wide mode and narrow. When I have it in flashlight mode, I couldn’t ask for a better flashlight, but you have to cycle through two types of flashers to get to the flashlight mode. You can only turn it on once or twice before you turn on flasher mode. This flashlight needs a better method for selecting modes. The beam shape and range is easily changed, and the light is incredible, but there needs to be a separate switch for the flasher modes. I am prone to migraines, so having to cycle through rapid flashing lights to get to the flashlight mode is annoying and painful. I wish that I could find a flashlight with the quality of light that this one produces without flasher modes.

Very disappointed in this flashlight. It just stopped working after a few months of occasional use. The light was reasonably bright when it worked.Update: I contacted the seller and described what had happened. They graciously received my comments and have sent a replacement to me at no charge. Excellent – five star – customer service!!Update2: the replacement is still working great over a year later!

Ten stars, love Gear Light.Flashlights are tough, durable, bright, and water resistance. Nice quality products.I have a UV pen and hand spotlight, small issue on UV brightness and trigger on other. But, Gear Light is my choice for flashlights and headlamps. Good quality you can trust. This light is bigger, very bright and durable.Toughness, I chucked this as hard as I could across yard and high. Didn’t flicker at all on impact. Rugged.Worked as before and no issue..

I left this in my truck in the center console and rarely used it. When I went to use it one day, it didn’t work. I had to use two wrenches to take the end off to access the batteries, only to find battery acid caked up inside so badly, that the batteries wouldn’t come out and the contacts were ruined. It definitely worked GREAT when it worked, but I was so disappointed to have that happen. I’m glad it didn’t cause an issue within my truck though. So, I’m guessing, don’t leave this in a hot vehicle.

This is a great flashlight. Very bright. I noticed allot of questions about the different functions. When you fully depress the power button it turns on. When you lightly press the power button it cycles thru the functions. If you fully press power and fully press power again it turns off. When turning in again, it returns to the last used function.I use this as a backup light in my duties as a police officer. Would def consider carrying it full time, but it has no holder. I dropped it and it was fully submerged in a puddle and still works fine.

When my light came I was very impressed with size and brightness. It seemed very well constructed and perfect for what I need in my line of work. I was really excited about this flashlight. My job requires me to look into may dark spaces at the underside of roof decking. It is often difficult to see in these spaces because they are often far above my head. The focusing beam was a really big selling point as well as the light being brighter than others. I used this light for two days (on brand new batteries) before the light began to flicker or turn off when pointed with the beam shining up.UPDATE – Customer service sent me a new light and it works great. Light is incredibly bright and works great!

Omg where has this flashlight been all my life lmao it is a bigger flashlight so I’d say not pocket size. I mean u can but it will stick out ur pocket lol. It’s super bright! I have not tried the water resistance yet. You can zoom in & out & it has a strobe & sos flashing. It’s super easy to use those functions to where it’s not annoying like other flashlights where u have to click it 5x just to go through all those settings. This one just clicking on & off is how to use obviously, but to use those flickering setting flashes u just gently push & hold the same button to use those functions. & zoom simply pull or push in the top of flashlight. THIS IS A STEAL. If your looking for a good bright flashlight get this one.

During my law enforcement career I owned/carried a number of very expensive but also very high quality flashlights, however, this flashlight is brighter than any I have owned previously. While I never carried a flashlight this large on my duty belt, I did carry flashlights even larger than this in my squad car. But, had this light been available to me back then, I probably would have carried at least two and possibly more. This is the brightest flashlight I’ve owned yet and extremely well made; and while it certainly doesn’t have the heft of a 4D cell Maglight, with a price tag of $22.99 one can’t go wrong purchasing the GearLight S2000!

The flashlight is not to heavy my 7, 6, and 4 year olds were all able to carry it with no problem. It’s very simple to use. The zoom in and out is awesome and the kids enjoyed that feature a lot. The light is bright enough but not to bright that its annoying. This is going to be perfect for our camping trips and it’s great for night time walks.

Seriously. This flashlight is crazy bright and lights up a large area. I use it for walking around my neighborhood at night, and so far it has helped me to bypass several creepy critters on the sidewalk, and for that I am eternally grateful. 😂 Also, the flashlight has some real heft to it, so I feel like if I had to defend myself, the flashlight would be a real advantage. Also, I believe that flashing it in someone’s eyes would temporarily blind them. Jk, but it’s very bright!I can’t say anything about water resistance or battery life yet, but I haven’t had to change the batteries and I got it about a month ago. I’ve been walking with it for 30 minutes every day since I purchased it.

Original review: “I have a set of inexpensive tactical lights I got from Costco years ago that were ~$5.00 apiece, that I still use today and supply excellent light, albeit they’re battery hogs for my rechargables. I bought this unit based on the reviews and the specs, but ended up returning it because performance didn’t nearly match either. My old lights have 2-3x the lumens of this unit, with much better focal point; and in the single day of operation (a few minutes of ‘on-time’), the switch broke. Color me unimpressed….”**UPDATE: Ok, now color me surprised and delighted. I got home last night to discover a package on my doorstep, that turned out to be another Gearlight S2000, which was sent to me by a Customer Service Manager Nathaniel Newman, with a copy of my one-star review and a note that read “I hope this replacement will provide a more positive experience than the previous one…” Inside the box was a light and new batteries. My first thought was that this is really impressive customer service, and a truly nice gesture, but I’m a ‘show me’ kinda guy and my last experience with this light was, well, you know. I loaded the batteries, turned out the lights and in total darkness, turned it on…yikes!!!!! This thing’s a torch!!! NOW I understand all the positive reviews. While I’m at a loss to explain the first unit I received, I’m a complete convert now: scratch my one star review and make that 5+ stars. Truly impressed!!! Well done Mr Newman, well done!

It’s pretty sturdy and holds up well. It’s bigger than I expected it to be, so make sure you read the dimensions! It’s not a wimpy little flashlight to stick in your purse–this is a full size, high powered, monster of a light. It is also water resistant as far as I can tell during the two times that I took it out in hellish Midwest thunderstorms. I should also note that I received this product for free, but I am not obligated to post a review (let alone a positive one) and I do not receive any additional compensation for reviewing this product on Amazon.

This is a stunning piece of work. It’s solid, well-machined and as for lighting, it’s overwhelming. I have an assortment of lights from Surefire to Maglite and many other excellent flamethrowers for all situations. This was a revelation. I wanted a wide arc – similar to LE and Armed Forces – to illuminate an entire field. This is it and of course, it narrows down to a pencil beam that I followed for 400 meters till it hit a neighbors door 2 blocks over. I haven’t tested its water resistance other than a bath test – and of course, it was watertight. As for battery life, that’s a function of how often and how you use any device. My sense is if you’re taking late-night strolls with Fido, keep a supply of AAA around. But what the heck – for lighting your way or blinding an aggressive individual, this will do the job – and it’s large enough with enough heft to do some serious damage if required. The bulky Maglite will stay in the trunk with assorted tools and self-defense paraphernalia. etc. Add a climbing-style carabiner and an aluminum kubotan to the light, and learn how to use them together you can repel most tough guys unless they have a real weapon – then learn to run. Sorry I ran off the rails there.

Super bright. Read reviews saying not to keep it on for too long or else the battery holder will melt. Haven’t had that issue yet but it is an extremely bright light. The modes are a bit hard to activate but I rather that over having to cycle through modes constantly. Can act as a great area light during blackouts. Has some great heft to it and this was amazing during the Texas freeze. Having this light during the Texas freeze made our experience much better during the blackouts

You see claims like “Brightest High Lumen Light” and you may think, “Yeah. OK. I’m sure it’s pretty bright.” But nothing prepared me for the first time I turned on this flashlight. It is the brightest flashlight I’ve ever seen – by a factor of 10! You could use this thing in a Broadway theater if the spotlight breaks…. I’m not kidding! That’s not hyperbole. This thing is BRIGHT!It also has a very easy-to-use zoom function that allows you to adjust the circle of light it emits from very wide – so you can illuminate a very large area all at once – all the way down to a very narrow beam of light. The narrow beam will carry easily over 200 yards to light-up something farther away. The zoom works simply by sliding the lighted end of the flashlight in or out. Couldn’t be easier. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars is because of the way control of the 5 modes works. You can alternate among 5 modes of lighting: 3 brightness settings, 1 strobe setting (that is very annoying. I guess it could be used to confront an attacker?), and a setting where the light blinks-out an S-O-S in Morse code. While the flashlight is turned-on it is easy to rotate through these settings one at-a-time by lightly clicking the on/off button about half-way down. The problem is that, with the exception of the first setting (brightest), if you turn-off the flashlight in one of the other 4 settings, when you turn it back on, it shifts to the next setting in the sequence. So if you like the dimmer setting (because bright is just too bright), you can easily adjust to that setting. But the next time you turn-on the flashlight it skips to the next setting in the series – which is strobe. Very annoying. Then you have to click through the modes again until you get back to the one you want. It does not seem to do this if you leave it on mode-1 (brightest) which is the default. If you leave it on bright, then turn it off, it comes back on still set to bright. If they fix this issue, everything else about this flashlight is truly great.

I use it for work purposes while documenting the inside of houses. I accidentally bumped it into the wall about a week after purchase while turning a corner. Didn’t hit it hard; normal expected wear & tear you’d expect equipment to encounter during use.The bulb immediately dimmed, like it was no longer seated properly. Hitting it against the wall a second time, a little bit harder, caused it to return to full brightness. But now it periodically goes dim and requires knocking it against a wall to fix. Not worth the hassle and ended up in the trash heap.Update: I’d never actually thrown it away, and found it recently in a junk drawer. Curious, I took it apart to inspect how it failed, and it appears to have overheated, damaging the contacts. Heat damage – not a battery leak. (junk at base of first photo is gun bore cleaning residue – cleaned it up a bit to make the heat fanning more visible)Considering I only used it at most for about 10 minutes at a time, just seems like a design issue. At least it wasn’t actually from bumping it like I’d originally thought.

I got this because I had a creeper in the parking lot at work, and sometimes we have other visitors, so I wanted something bright to wave at their eyeballs. I have no way of telling if this is actually 1200 lumens, but it IS bright. If I aim it at the ceiling in my bedroom, it lights up the whole room with a pretty adequate glow. Something I REALLY like about it is that the entire cone of light is even, like an animated spotlight, no real variation. It means I don’t have to mess around with the light field or take more than a second to tell if there’s anything there, compared to messing around with the other flashlight styles. I’ve often held my flashlights up like a torch for this very reason, to get an even lighting, so this is great.Downside, I find the flashlight heavy. Yeah, I know. It’s cool. I was kind of expecting it a bit, but it is a little heavier and a little bigger than I’d thought. It takes 4 AA batteries and has a wrist loop on the end. Not so thrilled to have to carry something that weighs about as much as my usual filled bag, alongside with my usual bag, so I don’t know that I’ll keep that up, but it does make a pretty impressive flashlight.

The first flashlight was great, It was able to focus a small led square extremely far away… but the flashlight soon started having issues and had a very minimal light flashin on the led when off and even when I turned off it leaked the batteries and ruined flashlight. They replaced very quick, but the LED square on the new one had a yellow bubble instead of clear like on the images in description, and it does not zoom NEAR as accuractely far, it is a blurred circle and larger vs the first one with a very accurate square extremely far. It will still be useful for in home use but not field or camping use like I had got used to with the first one. Light dims as batteries drain, which is fairly quickly.

I bought this flashlight because of the great reviews and powerful lighting shown in some of the reviewers photos. Coyotes are active where I live and took my neighbor’s Yorkie when she stepped off the back porch about 8 pm. Since then, I accompany my small dog on all evening/nighttime potty outings and this flashlight initially did a great job of lighting up the wooded area surrounding yard making me feel much more secure. I could see any coyotes that may be out there in time to react ( air horn, pepper spray gel, etc). I used the flashlight for about a week, having it on 5 to 10 minutes each day and now it has dimmed to just an ordinary flashlight strength. I can no longer see far enough to feel safe. I am hoping customer service will help me, or I I’ll have to find a more durable flashlight elsewhere.

Mmm well i guess its alright for 22 dollars but im used to using the 60 dollar LED flashlights. But if you are like me dont expect this flashlight to be the same as a 60 dollar one so take that into consideration before going 40 dollars cheaper. And yes i am talking about light brightness/lumens! About the frame well it feels solid and good built. Im just going to keep this flashlight as an alternative one from my expensive ones and not as a primary flashlight.

This flashlight is really good! I love that you can adjust the size of the light. It’s easy to use, easy to change batteries. Honestly if you’re in the market for a flashlight, this is your item. Only downside is that it’s really heavy, but good flashlights are usually heavy in weight.

This light SUCKS. It worked great fir one night and now its horrible on day two. Look at the brightness compared to my 1500LUM I had to take the picture quick because the 1500lum just ate this one up into darkness. This is with brand new batteries too. Horrible. Edit – I found out it was the cheap metalic strip alligning the battery pack that was causing it to be so weak. It had a bubble so it wasnt connecting properly. I had to run the edge of a flathead across the center of the strip to get rid of the bubble. Now the battery pack doesn’t look prestique but she works and is properly bright.

I just got this in the mail today. Couldn’t wait for tonight to test it out. I live in the country with no street lights. After sundown I tested it out. I could spotlight my neighbors garage door which is about 300 yards away on full zoom. On the opposite end it did a really nice job flooding my whole front yard.My concerns long term are durability at this price point. I am also not sure how well it will hold a focal point as you change it by sliding the lens. I would have preferred a more ridged screw mechanism.UPDATE: After my initial usage I put this into the drawer for a couple weeks. When I pulled it back out last night it seemed to be about half of the power. I opened up the batteries to find them (brand new Duracell) swelled and leaking with corrosion all around.Based on the ratings and return policy from Amazon I am going to try another one and see if I just had a bad one. Hopefully I can return some stars.UPDATE 2: A couple weeks ago I got a package that I wasn’t expecting. Inside was a replacement flashlight and a letter from Gearlight explaining that the experience I had was not to their standards. This is amazing customer service and truly wins me over if the product holds up. I have put the new flashlight through the same paces and so far I have not had the same issue. I also went ahead and bought the 2 pack of lanterns by Gearlight and have also been impressed with them. A single lantern is enough to light up a 300 sqft room when the power goes out. Again time will tell but so far I am very satisfied.

I’m very impressed with this light so far.I have an aging Streamlight SL20, rechargeable with an incandescent bulb, that’s been my backyard, look-for-the-dog light for years. More often than not, it was the brightest light we owned. A side-by-side comparison between the GearLight and the Streamlight was almost unfair. The GearLight won in brightness, weight, and versatility. The Streamlight wins out in the use-it-as-a-club department.I’ve had a couple of high-dollar LED lights over the years, mostly Fenix. The more expensive lights had slightly nicer switches and lanyard attachments, but neither of those things kept me from losing them.I’d say the best thing about this light other than it’s insane brightness is that it runs on AA batteries. I purposely stayed away from anything that took CR-whatever Lithium batteries or needed recharging. We ALWAYS have a huge pack of Kirland’s best AA’s and AAA’s in the drawer, and if not, it’s easy enough to scrounge up 4 AA’s in the unlikely event the GearLight’sd batteries die.Highly recommend. I’m buying more,

At 1st, after I turned on the flashlight, I was duly impressed by the strength of the light’s beam. You can make it into a focal point, or widen the light beam’s width. However, I’m not sure what happened, but there was corrosion after a couple of weeks with regards to the flashlight power cell. It seemed like there was a battery leakage. I put in 4 new Duracell batteries immediately after I received the flashlight that I bought from Costco. This type of battery corrosion happened a couple of times with headphones when I went on an airplane, but I didn’t expect it to happen with this flashlight since I really needed it on this trip. Luckily, it happened on or after the flight back home. I really hope this isn’t the case with these types of flashlights. Of course, I will contact customer service for a return just in case.

First of all, this is a great flashlight when it works. My wife liked mine so much that I ordered one for her a month later.Three months after I started using mine, it began getting dimmer and dimmer. Finally it quit altogether. When I went to check the batteries, I found that the flashlight had apparently burned the metal strip which runs the length of the battery pack completely off at one end, preventing the battery from working.I suppose you could say wow- that’s powerful. But I would prefer to have the light working again. When I put my wife’s battery pack into my flashlight, it works fine. My battery pack is toast.50% reliability? Not so good.I upgraded my original 2-star rating to 5 stars after GearLight customer service got back to me in less than a day following my description of the problem and offered to send me a new flashlight immediately.Great customer service! If you need their help, go to the GearLight site and contact them there.Postscript 2: Customer service emailed me and explained: “The battery holder was damaged due to the battery leaking causing a chemical burn of the copper strip. I recommend using Energizer max batteries or rechargeable NiMh batteries. These types of batteries are less prone to leakage and are great to use in high powered flashlights that generate a lot of heat. ” Good to know… : )

very well built (almost all metal), feels sturdy (with 4 AA batteries, not included) and very bright. i’m very impressed so far. it has some weight to it where, if you had to defend yourself in an emergency, you could use this in a pinch. i’ll have to see how the durability is over time but so far, this flashlight is awesome. it’s a decent size but not too big. i feel it’s worth the price and i can’t say that about a lot of things.i got a coupon code to buy a 2nd light at about $5 off ($13 vs $18). i didn’t necessarily need a 2nd one but the discounted price was so good, i had to take advantage. i mainly use it to find addresses at night when i’m making deliveries. i now have a 2nd one for my condo incase of emergency.

I purchased two of these Gear Light high powered LED flashlights. They are super bright, which is great. I haven’t had them long enough to judge battery life or water resistance.I did have one problem. One of the two flashlights arrived without a lanyard. I contacted the company, and the immediately shipped me three replacement lanyards. The response time was outstanding, but the replacement lanyards are shorter and much poorer quality than the original. The first lanyard is attached with a metal ring. The replacements look slightly thicker than dental floss. I can’t imagine that they will hold up, and I am afraid that I’ll end up dropping and breaking my flashlight if I rely on the flimsy replacement. If you look closely at the place where the lanyard connects, you can see that it is a very sharp edge that I imagine would create a lot of friction on a flimsy string. There’s a reason why it was originally designed to have a metal ring as a connection point.

This flashlight is great…….for about a month. This flashlight was used for a total run time of probably 10minutes over the course of a month. Then the next time it was turned on the brightness level was about 10%. Ok, well let’s change the batteries even though there’s no way they could be dead already. Guess what, it never came on again. Then I find that one of the positive contacts is missing, probably came out with the original batteries. I suggest you purchase this is you need a flashlight to work very well one time, otherwise it’s a poorly made piece of garbage. Amazon, please allow ZERO STARS in the future.UPDATE: Mailman came today and delivered another Gearlight flashlight along with a pack of 6 AA batteries at no charge. For that, I thank the seller. Great customer service, and fast. Hopefully this one will work better however I see a lot of reviews stating the same issues I had. For now, I’ll update to 3 stars.

Pros: Nice bright light, good distance especially with the focused zoom. Easy functioning slide that toggles nicely between focused view, large diameter and in between. Dropped it on concrete and seems to still work fine with only a few slight scratches. The biggest issue with this flashlight is the battery life. After using it for approximately 2- 2.5 hours toggled between on and off continuously (with stretches of it being on for approximately 15 minutes with no break), I’ve noticed the light is dim and it doesn’t have the same reach as it once had. Even using top quality energizer brand lithium batteries, you should be wary of using the light too much (although I found it to be quite fun the first few nights of having it). The bulb gets quite hot and has to use quite a bit of wattage so, you take the good with the bad I guess when it comes to lumens and power. Would be nice if they found a way to make a rechargeable flashlight with the same amount of power. To test the water resistance, I held the flashlight under the bathroom faucet for approx. 10 secs… please see pic…. although the frame/body of the flashlight was fairly water resistant, water penetrates through the slide area and gets inside the bulb/lens housing. I really was expecting it to be truly water resistant considering the description says it can be submerged for a short period of time. All in all, good flashlight that could use a few design tweaks.

UPDATE… VERY WORTH IT.. PROVED ITS QUALITY AND VALUE.. I need lot of these for the ranch activity and family use. very bright long beams, best used so far for this price !! – even picked out trespasser in pitch dark, he couldn’t escape the beam. Dont carry spare rechargeable batteries, carry spare S2000s !! You wont be disappointed. This will blind you, be careful. do not look directly into its light.Certainly Bright.. powerful long range direct beam spot light to pick out anything far away , , good wide range open view beam in wide area view, – good so far for first week, use it on open rural lands where its black at night with no moon. Will Update in months time. Using top performing re-chargeables works great cheap costs for use, if all goes well over time will buy few more for backup while out on lands instead of carrying batteries replacement. So far cost and value of the S2000 is very worth it. update to come.
